1. Who we are

South West Tech Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website swtech.uk, an online retailer of computer components, custom-built and pre-configured PCs, and related computing services, serving customers across the UK.

Contact details:

  • Email: info@swtech.uk
  • Correspondence address: available upon request
  • Registered office: provided when legally required

This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use our website or place an order, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it.

2. What data we collect

When you browse our website or place an order, we may collect:

  • Contact details — name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing address
  • Order information — items purchased, order value, order history
  • Payment information — processed directly by our payment providers (see Section 4). We do not store your full card details ourselves.
  • Account information — if you create an account, your login details and saved addresses
  • Technical data — IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited, collected automatically via our website’s built-in analytics
  • Correspondence — any information you provide when contacting us for support

3. How we use your data

We use your personal data to:

  • Process and fulfil your orders, including arranging delivery
  • Communicate with you about your order (confirmations, dispatch, delivery updates, and support queries)
  • Maintain your account, if you have one
  • Detect and prevent fraud
  • Understand how our website is used, so we can improve it
  • Meet our legal and tax obligations

We currently do not send marketing or promotional emails. You will only receive transactional emails relating to your order or account. If this changes in future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before sending any marketing communications.

4. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary to provide our service, with the following categories of recipient:

  • Payment processors — Stripe, PayPal, and WooPayments process your payment details directly. We do not see or store your full card number.
  • Delivery — your name, delivery address, and contact details are passed to DPD (via Target Direct Delivery) to deliver your order.
  • Fulfilment partner — for products fulfilled directly by our supplier, Target Components Ltd receives your name and delivery address for shipping purposes only. They do not receive your payment or account details.
  • Email delivery — order confirmation and account-related emails are sent via SureMail, a transactional email delivery service.
  • Website hosting and platform — our website is built on WordPress and WooCommerce, and hosted with our web hosting provider, who process data as part of running the website.

Each of these providers is only given the data they need to perform their specific function, and is required to handle it securely.

5. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses essential cookies required for core functionality, such as remembering the contents of your shopping cart and keeping you logged in to your account.

We also use basic, built-in website analytics (via Jetpack) to understand how visitors use our site — for example, which pages are most visited. We do not currently use Google Analytics, or any social media advertising trackers (such as Meta, TikTok, Snapchat, or Reddit pixels). If this changes, we will update this policy.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of the site, such as the shopping cart, from working correctly.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep order and transaction records for at least 6 years, in line with UK tax and accounting record-keeping requirements.

If you have an account with us, we keep your account details for as long as your account remains active. You can ask us to delete your account at any time, subject to our legal obligation to retain order records.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data, where we are not legally required to keep it
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@swtech.uk.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Payment data is handled directly by our PCI-compliant payment providers and is never stored on our own systems.

9. Children’s privacy

Our website is intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we introduce new services, tools, or marketing communications. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent change. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
